| Obverse description | Central square hole (穿) surrounded by a plain raised inner rim, with four Chinese ideograms arranged in the traditional cross reading order — top, bottom, right, left — rendered in Seal script (篆书): 靖 (jìng), 康 (kāng), 通 (tōng), 寶 (bǎo). The characters occupy the four quadrants of the coin field and are boldly cast against a flat, unadorned ground. A raised outer rim frames the entire obverse. The overall style is characteristic of Northern Song dynasty cash coinage, with the elegant, rounded strokes typical of Seal script calligraphy. |
