| Reverse description | Plain reverse featuring a central square hole (穿) enclosed by a raised inner rim, with a completely blank, flat field devoid of any inscription, symbol, or decorative element. A raised outer rim encircles the reverse. The uniface design is consistent with iron cash coinage of the late Northern Song period, where reverse embellishment was frequently omitted, particularly on lower-denomination iron issues. |

Jingkang was the reign period of Emperor Qinzong, the last reigning Song emperor in the north — and it lasted barely fourteen months before the Jurchen Jin forces sacked Kaifeng in 1127, capturing both Qinzong and his father, the abdicated Huizong, and ending the Northern Song dynasty outright. Coins bearing this reign title were produced under extraordinary duress, and many late issues were struck in iron as copper supplies were increasingly diverted or disrupted by the advancing Jin armies.
The brevity of the reign makes Jingkang-period iron cash among the scarcer Northern Song issues by simple arithmetic of production time.
