| Descripción del anverso | Four Chinese ideograms in Regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom, then right to left, encircling a central square perforation. The characters 景定元寶 (Jingding Yuanbao) are cast in relief within the coin's field, separated by the square central hole. A raised inner rim borders the square perforation, and a further raised outer rim defines the coin's edge. The script is well-formed and typical of Southern Song dynasty cash coinage. |

Jingding was the final reign period of Emperor Lizong of the Southern Song, a dynasty by then reduced to a rump state in the southeast, continuously pressed by Mongol forces pushing down from the north. The "with year" designation refers to the inclusion of a cyclical date character on the reverse — an uncommon feature for Song cash that adds meaningful die variety complexity to the series. Lizong died in 1264, and within fifteen years the Southern Song ceased to exist entirely, making every coin from his final reign period a product of a court that knew, broadly, what was coming.
