Obverse description Four Chinese ideograms in Regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom, then right to left, encircling a central square perforation. The characters 景定元寶 (Jingding Yuanbao) are cast in relief within the coin's field, separated by the square central hole. A raised inner rim borders the square perforation, and a further raised outer rim defines the coin's edge. The script is well-formed and typical of Southern Song dynasty cash coinage.
