Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom and right to left. The reign title legend 嘉慶通寶 (Jiaqing Tongbao) is cast in regular script (kaishu), with 嘉 at top, 慶 at bottom, 通 at right, and 寶 at left relative to the central hole. The characters are boldly rendered within a plain, slightly raised inner rim and an outer raised border. The field is flat and unadorned, consistent with standard Qing dynasty cast cash coinage.
