Obverse description Round cast bronze coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim. The four-character reign inscription 皇宋通寶 (Huangsong Tongbao) is arranged in clerical script (lishu) in a cruciform reading order: 皇 (top), 通 (right), 寶 (bottom), 宋 (left), each character occupying one quadrant of the coin field between the central hole and the outer rim. The characters display the structured, squared strokes characteristic of the lishu script tradition, with deliberate horizontal emphasis. The outer rim is broad and slightly raised, and the overall surface exhibits a dark patina with areas of green cuprite corrosion consistent with extended burial or circulation.
