Reverse description Plain flat field surrounding the central square perforation, with a single Chinese character in regular script (kaishu) positioned below the hole: 福 (Fu), denoting the Fujian Provincial Mint. The character is cast in bold relief and flanked by the raised inner square rim of the perforation above and the plain outer rim at the coin's periphery. The remainder of the reverse field is otherwise uninscribed and unadorned, consistent with standard Ming dynasty provincial mint practice.
