Reverse description Central square hole with a raised square border, flanked on either side by a single Manchu script character rendered vertically in bold raised relief. The two Manchu characters, reading right to left across the hole, spell 'Boo-guwang' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᡤᡠᠸᠠᠩ), the Manchu rendering of the Guangzhou (Canton) mint name. The script is executed in the distinctive cursive Manchu style, with flowing loops and strokes characteristic of Qing dynasty mint identification marks. The field is plain and the rim is smooth and slightly raised.
