Obverse description Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform fashion around the perforation. The reign title reads clockwise from the top: 光 (Guāng) at top, 緒 (Xù) at right, 通 (Tōng) at bottom, and 寶 (Bǎo) at left, together forming the legend 'Guāngxù Tōngbǎo' — 'Circulating Currency of the Guangxu Emperor.' The characters are bold and raised in relief against a flat field, with no rim beading, consistent with standard late Qing cast coinage.
