| Reverse description | The reverse displays a central square perforation flanked by four Chinese and Manchu script legends arranged in cruciform style around the hole. Above the hole are two Chinese characters 官板 (Guan Ban, meaning 'official issue'); below are the characters 四分 (Si Fen, meaning '4 Fen'); to the right and left are partial Manchu script elements corresponding to the mint name Boo-fung (Fuzhou). The characters are boldly struck in high relief against a darkened, recessed field, enclosed within a raised plain rim, consistent with the mechanically struck issues of the late Qing Fuzhou Mint. |
