Obverse description Round cast bronze coin featuring a central square perforation flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order: 光 (guāng) above, 緒 (xù) to the right, 通 (tōng) below, and 寶 (bǎo) to the left, forming the reign title and denomination legend 光緒通寶 (Guangxu Tongbao). The characters are rendered in relief against a flat field, enclosed within a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and an outer raised border. The coin displays typical late Qing casting style with a broad, flat flan. Surface shows natural patination consistent with age.
