Obverse description Central field bears a circular seal-script cartouche enclosing the reign title 緒 (Xu), surrounded by four Chinese characters reading 光緒戊申 (Guangxu, Wushen year) arranged in the cardinal positions. The denomination 一文 (one cash) appears at the bottom of the field. The inscription 申戊 flanks the central cartouche horizontally. All legends are rendered in bold regular script (kaishu) on a plain, unadorned field within a raised rim.
