| Obverse description | Central square hole flanked by four Chinese ideograms arranged in cruciform layout, read clockwise in Regular script (kaishu). The reign title inscription 大宋通寶 (Da Song Tong Bao) occupies the four cardinal positions around the central perforation, with individual characters set within the plain field. The casting is typical of Southern Song dynasty cash coinage, with raised characters on a flat flan and a plain inner rim surrounding the square hole. |
