Obverse description Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation framed by a raised square rim (内郭). The four-character reign title legend is disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central hole in regular script (楷書): 道 (Dao) above, 光 (Guang) below, 通 (Tong) to the right, and 寶 (Bao) to the left, reading top-bottom-right-left in the conventional manner. The characters are rendered in bold relief against a flat field, enclosed between the inner square rim and the outer circular rim (外郭). The coin surface exhibits typical casting characteristics of the Daoguang period, with slight variation in character details distinguishing the products of the four branches of the Board of Revenue Mint.
