Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin of traditional East Asian type, featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Sino-Vietnamese characters arranged in cruciform fashion in the fields. The four-character reign legend reads clockwise from the top: 大 (Đại), 和 (Hòa), 通 (Thông), 寶 (Bảo), denoting 'Dai Hoa Thong Bao'. The coin is struck without an inner or outer raised rim border, consistent with the uniface without border variety. The field exhibits a rough, granular cast surface with characteristic green patination, and the outer edge retains the irregular profile typical of Vietnamese cast coinage of the Nguyen dynasty period.
