| 裏面の説明 | Cast bronze reverse repeating the identical four-character reign legend 大定通寶 (Dading Tongbao) in regular script (楷書), arranged cruciformly around the central square perforation, read top-to-bottom, right-to-left. The characters on this side exhibit slightly softer casting definition relative to the obverse, with areas of green patination visible across the flat field. A plain inner rim borders the square hole, and a raised outer rim frames the design. |

The Dading reign (1161–1189) of Emperor Shizong was among the most stable periods of Jurchen Jin rule, and the coinage reflects it — large, well-organized minting operations supplied a cash economy that functioned across a vast north Chinese territory still absorbing former Song administrative infrastructure. The "repeated inscription" variety, in which the reverse carries a second rendering of the obverse legend rather than a blank field or single character, remains incompletely explained; it may indicate a secondary mint, a supervisory mark system, or simply a die-preparation anomaly that escaped correction.
