| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in seal script (tritriện), arranged in the traditional cross pattern and read top to bottom, right to left. The four-character reign legend 大治通寶 (Đại Trị Thông Bảo) fills the four quadrants of the field around the central hole. Characters are rendered in bold, archaic seal script style with prominent raised relief against a flat field. A raised inner rim borders the central square hole, and a broader raised outer rim defines the coin's periphery. |
