Issued under Trần Dụ Tông, whose reign was marked by administrative neglect and a court increasingly consumed by factionalism, these cash coins circulated during one of the more troubled stretches of the Trần dynasty. Dụ Tông's indifference to governance left real power fragmented among noble cliques, and the monetary system reflected that disorder — multiple coin types were struck with inconsistent quality across the period.
The clerical script variety distinguished from the cursive-script issues of the same reign type, Hartill cataloguing them separately on that basis alone.
