| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin featuring four Chinese ideograms in Regular script (Kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square perforation. The four-character reign title legend reads clockwise: 淳 (top), 祐 (right), 元 (bottom), 寶 (left), forming the inscription 淳祐元寶 (Chunyou Yuanbao). The characters are bold and well-defined, framed by an inner square rim surrounding the central hole and an outer circular rim at the coin's periphery. The field between the inner and outer rims is plain and unadorned, consistent with standard Southern Song Dynasty cash coinage. |
