Obverse description Central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters in Regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order: 淳 (Chun) at top, 熙 (Xi) at right, 元 (Yuan) at bottom, and 寶 (Bao) at left, together forming the reign title inscription 淳熙元寶 (Chunxi Yuanbao). The characters are cleanly rendered within the coin's broad, slightly raised rim. The field shows the characteristic rough surface typical of iron cash coinage of the Southern Song dynasty.
