| 表面の説明 | Crowned royal monogram of King Christian IV of Denmark within a circular border, rendered in low relief on a roughly cast, irregular lead flan. The monogram is composed of interlaced letters in the manner typical of Danish royal cyphers of the period. The overall style is crude and utilitarian, consistent with locally produced colonial cash coinage. The field is plain and unadorned beyond the central device. |

The Danish East India Company established its trading post at Tranquebar (Tharangambadi) on the Coromandel Coast in 1620 after King Christian IV negotiated directly with the Nayak of Tanjore. These lead cash pieces were struck specifically for local trade circulation, since Danish silver and copper had no traction in Indian markets accustomed to Mughal and regional coinage systems. The choice of lead was deliberate — matching the material expectations of the low-denomination cash economy already functioning along that coast.
Christian IV died in February 1648, meaning this issue was struck in the final months of his reign or posthumously under his authority.
