The legend DAO NISB ORG, a corrupted or abbreviated rendering of 'Danisborg' (the Danish fort at Tranquebar), appears in crude raised Latin lettering distributed across the central field. The design is devoid of any pictorial device, reflecting the utilitarian nature of this small-denomination trade cash intended for circulation in the Danish colonial settlement of Tranquebar. |
