Obverse description Cast brass cash coin of the southern type, featuring four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in the traditional cross pattern around a central square perforation. The reign title reads clockwise from top: 崇 (Chong), 通 (Tong) to the right, 禎 (Zhen) at the bottom, and 寶 (Bao) to the left, forming the legend Chongzhen Tongbao. The characters are rendered in bold relief within a plain inner rim and outer raised border, with the flat field showing typical casting texture.
