Obverse description Cast brass cash coin of standard round form with a central square perforation, surrounded by a raised square rim. The obverse field bears the four-character reign title inscription 崇禎通寶 (Chongzhen Tongbao) arranged in regular script (kaishu) in the traditional reading order: top, bottom, right, left, radiating from the central square hole. The characters are boldly cast in raised relief against a flat field, enclosed between an inner square rim and a raised outer circular border. The calligraphic style is characteristic of late Ming imperial coinage.
