Obverse description Round cast brass coin with a central square perforation, bearing the four-character reign title legend 崇禎通寶 (Chongzhen Tongbao) arranged in standard cross-reading order around the square hole: 崇 (top), 寶 (bottom), 通 (right), 禎 (left), all rendered in regular script (kaishu). The characters are set in raised relief against a flat field, with a raised inner rim bordering the central square hole and a raised outer rim encircling the coin. The casting is typical of northern Ming workshop production, with slightly uneven surfaces showing the patina of age.
