Obverse description Central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom and right to left, rendering the legend 崇禎通寶 (Chongzhen Tongbao). The characters are cast in relief within a plain inner rim and a raised outer rim. The overall style is typical of late Ming dynasty cast brass cash coinage, with moderately bold strokes and a well-defined field.
