Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by a plain inner rim and a raised outer rim, with four Chinese characters arranged in the four quadrants reading top, right, bottom, left in Clerical script (lishu): 崇寧重寶 (Chongning Zhongbao). The inscription references the Chongning reign era of Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song dynasty. The fields are plain and unadorned, typical of privately cast cash coinage of the period. The coin displays a characteristic green patina consistent with bronze alloy and extended burial or circulation.
