| Obverse description | Cast round coin with a central square hole, displaying four Chinese ideograms arranged in cruciform fashion around the central perforation, read top to bottom and right to left in the traditional manner. The characters 景興通寶 (Cảnh Hưng Thông Bảo) occupy the four cardinal positions within the coin's field. The inscription denotes the reign era of Lê Hiển Tông (1740–1786) and the phrase 'universal currency.' The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) with slightly raised relief typical of Vietnamese cast cash coinage of this period. The broad flat rim frames the inscription cleanly on all sides. |
