| Additional information |
Cảnh Hưng was the reign title of Lê Hiển Tông, who ruled nominally for over forty years while real power remained firmly with the Trịnh lords — a arrangement that defined the Later Lê period entirely. Coins issued under this reign title were produced across an exceptionally long span, which accounts for the considerable variation in fabric, casting quality, and weight seen across the type. Barker distinguishes multiple varieties; this first type represents the earlier castings.
Vietnamese cash coins of this period were cast, not struck, typically in clay or sand moulds in provincial furnaces operating under loose central oversight.
