| 正面描述 | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim, with four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform reading clockwise from top: 景 (Cảnh), 興 (Hưng), 寶 (Bảo), 正 (Chính), together forming the reign-era inscription 景興正寶 (Cảnh Hưng Chính Bảo). The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) in raised relief against a flat field. An outer circular rim encloses the composition. The overall casting is typical of Vietnamese cash coinage of the Lê dynasty, with moderate relief and a patinated copper surface showing verdigris consistent with age. |

Cảnh Hưng was the reign title of Lê Hiển Tông, who ruled for over forty years in name while real power shifted between competing lords — the Trịnh in the north and the Nguyễn in the south. Cash coins bearing his reign title were struck not only by the imperial mint but also by both lord factions independently, producing a proliferation of types across a fragmented monetary system. Barker distinguishes multiple varieties under the Cảnh Hưng series precisely because unified minting authority had effectively ceased to exist.
