| Reverse description | Plain reverse field with a central square hole flanked by raised inner and outer rims. A single Chinese character in regular script (kaishu) appears above the square perforation, identifying the mint of issue as Yan (兗). The reverse surface exhibits a uniform olive-brown patina with traces of green cuprite, consistent with cast bronze coinage of the Tang dynasty period. The remaining three quadrants of the reverse are blank. |
