| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in clerical script (lishu), arranged in cruciform fashion and read in the traditional sequence top, bottom, right, left. The four-character legend 開元通寶 (Kai Yuan Tong Bao) fills the inner field between the square hole and the raised inner rim. The field is otherwise plain, bounded by a raised outer rim. The coin exhibits heavy green and blue-grey patination consistent with prolonged burial, with the characters still legible in relief. |

| Reverse description | Plain reverse field with a central square perforation flanked by raised inner and outer rims. A single Chinese character in regular script (kaishu) appears above the square hole, identifying the mint of issue. The remainder of the reverse field is blank. The surface displays a pronounced green patina with areas of earthen encrustation, typical of Tang dynasty cast coinage recovered from archaeological contexts. |
