Reverse description The reverse bears four Tamil syllables arranged in the quadrants of the field, reading தி ந வெ லி (Ti / Na / Ve / Li), constituting an abbreviated rendering of the mint name Tirunelveli. The characters are rendered in a bold, somewhat cursive Tamil script typical of eighteenth-century South Indian copper coinage. The strike is uneven across the flan, with some loss of detail at the margins, as is common for hammered issues of this series. No border or decorative frame is present, and the flat irregular flan is consistent with hand-cut planchet production.
