The Nawabs of Carnatic occupied an increasingly uncomfortable position through the 18th century — nominally Mughal governors, then clients of the Nizam of Hyderabad, then effectively instruments of the East India Company following Clive's campaigns of the 1750s. By the time Muhammad Ali Khan Wallajah consolidated his long reign, the Nawab's practical authority had largely been subordinated to Madras. The coinage continued regardless, its dates spanning political arrangements that bore little resemblance to one another.
KM#11 was issued across that entire contested stretch, which complicates attribution of individual pieces to specific reigns.
