Lorenzo Priuli served as Venetian Governor of Cyprus from 1556 to 1559, one in a long succession of appointed rectors administering the island under the Serenissima. The carzia was the base copper-billon fractional coinage of Venetian Cyprus, struck to meet local small-change demand that mainland Venetian issues did not satisfy. Priuli's issues are documented by Tziambazis but remain poorly represented in major collections, partly because billon fractions of this weight and fabric circulated hard and rarely survived intact.
