背面描述 The reverse displays a cruciform arrangement of the Swedish crowned coat of arms, with four crowns placed diagonally between the arms of the cross, forming an eight-part heraldic composition. At the center of the cross is the Vasa sheaf arms on an escutcheon. Below the crowned arms, the denomination notation referencing the equivalence to half a Daler Silver Mynt is inscribed. The legend CAROLINEN arcs around the design, identifying the coin's denomination, all within a milled border.

附加信息

Charles XII struck these carolins in 1718 while Sweden was hemorrhaging men and money after nearly two decades of continuous warfare. The silver content had been progressively debased from earlier issues — the .694 fineness reflects a treasury that could no longer sustain the coinage standards of his father's reign. Charles was killed at the siege of Fredriksten in November 1718, and his death effectively ended the Great Northern War within a few years, making this one of the final monetary decisions of a king who spent almost his entire adult life on campaign.
