| Obverse description | The papal arms of Benedict XIV displayed centrally within an ornate baroque cartouche, consisting of three vertical striped bands surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield is rendered in high relief with elaborate scrollwork framing on either side. The circular Latin legend reads BENED·XIV PON·M·A·VIII, identifying the pontiff and his regnal year, distributed around the periphery of the coin. A fine toothed border runs along the entire circumference of the obverse field. |
