(Translation: Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland)
Reverse description Crowned quartered royal shield of arms occupying the central field, displaying in the first and fourth quarters the lion rampant of Scotland, in the second quarter the fleurs-de-lis and lions passant guardant of France and England quartered, and in the third quarter the harp of Ireland. The initial letter C appears to the left of the shield and R to the right, denoting Carolus Rex. The shield is surmounted by a large imperial crown, and the whole is enclosed within a beaded inner border with the reverse legend running continuously around the outer margin.
