Reverse description The four letters V, R, B, I arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central globe, forming a cross design within a beaded inner circle. The quadrants between the arms of the letter-cross are occupied by pellets and decorative elements. A Latin circumscription reading + IN٠ROMA V R B I runs between the beaded circle and the outer rim, referencing the City of Rome. The composition is characteristic of the Bolognino Romano type struck under Gregory XI following the return of the papacy to Rome.
