| Descrizione del dritto | Central field dominated by the papal arms of Innocent VIII (Cybo family coat of arms): a quartered shield featuring horizontal bands in the upper half and a diagonal chequered band (fusilly) in the lower half, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys. The heraldic device is rendered in the late Gothic style typical of hammered Papal coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the armorial composition, reading the pope's name and title. The irregular flan exhibits characteristic hammered fabric with a slightly raised border. |

Innocent VIII — born Giovanni Battista Cibò — was among the more politically compromised pontiffs of the fifteenth century, his papacy financed in part through the open sale of offices and the infamous *Summis desiderantes affectibus* bull of 1484, which formally authorized inquisitorial persecution of witchcraft across the Holy Roman Empire. Macerata operated as a papal mint under direct legatine authority, and its bolognino output during this reign was modest enough that surviving examples with clean flans are genuinely scarce.
