Reverse description Central field displays a stylized cross with pellets or annulets at the terminals and in the angles, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross motif is characteristic of Bolognino-type coinage struck under papal authority at the Ascoli mint. The legend naming the patron saint of Ascoli runs around the outer field in uncial lettering. The flan exhibits the typical irregular outline of a hand-struck medieval silver piece. The die work is consistent with provincial papal mint production of the early fifteenth century.
