The curved legend MONEDA EMITIDA EN LA PAZ arches across the upper periphery, identifying the city of La Paz as the place of issue. The engraver's initials C.T.E. appear flanking the central device at mid-field. The denomination UN BOLIVIANO and the date 1868 are inscribed in the lower portion of the field, completing the design.
