The Banco Agrícola was established in Bolivia in the early 1900s to provide agricultural credit — a sector chronically underserved by the country's commercial banks, which concentrated their lending in the mining sector. Whether this note ever circulated meaningfully is an open question; Bolivia's private banking era ended abruptly with the 1914 monetary reforms that nationalized currency issuance, and many provincial agricultural bank notes were redeemed well before they could accumulate any real circulation history.
Bradbury, Wilkinson printed for dozens of Latin American issuers during this period, and the quality of their intaglio work made their notes extremely difficult to counterfeit — a practical priority in rural Bolivian markets where note authentication was essentially impossible without that tactile depth.
