| 表面の説明 | Brown-toned note with a central oval intaglio vignette of Simón Bolívar in military uniform, captioned "SIMÓN BOLÍVAR" beneath the portrait, framed by fine guilloche lacework and diamond-shaped numeral panels bearing the value "1" at each corner. The issuing bank name "EL BANCO CENTRAL DE BOLIVIA" runs across a solid horizontal band below the portrait, with the promise text "PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR A LA VISTA" immediately beneath. Three manuscript signature lines appear at the bottom, identified by printed titles CONTADOR, SUPERINTENDENTE DE BANCOS, and GERENTE GENERAL, with the denomination cartouche "UN BOLIVIANO EN ORO O GIROS-ORO" at the foot of the note. |

The sheer number of signature combinations on this note — spanning roughly two dozen series prefixes across more than twenty years — reflects not administrative tidiness but chronic monetary instability. Bolivia's central bank was printing and reissuing 1 Boliviano notes continuously through the Chaco War, the military governments of the 1940s, and into the revolutionary upheaval of April 1952, when the MNR seized power. The "EMISIÓN 1951" and "EMISIÓN 1952" overprints on the later series were a practical stopgap, allowing the same Waterlow-printed sheets to remain in circulation under new political authority without a full reprint.
Collectors tracking a complete signature run face genuine difficulty with the mid-series transitions, particularly around series U13–D14, where the shift from Prudencio to Frías as a signatory occurs within a narrow prefix range.
