Additional information

Venezuela's nickel coinage of the 1960s was produced under contracts with foreign mints — the 1967 one bolívar was struck at the British Royal Mint — a common arrangement for a country whose domestic minting capacity lagged behind monetary demand during the oil-boom decades. These issues circulated heavily through a period of relative economic stability under the democratic governments that followed the end of Marcos Pérez Jiménez's dictatorship in 1958.
