Reverse description A thistle in full bloom, its characteristic pineapple-shaped head detailed with a latticed surface and flanked by two large acanthus-style leaves, rises from a short stem at the centre of the field. The thistle is surmounted by a royal crown with fleurs-de-lis and crosses pattée visible on the band. The Latin motto legend and the date 1695 encircle the central device, running continuously around the coin within a plain rim.
