Obverse description Central field occupied by a large, ornate quartered shield of arms displaying the manifold dynastic quarterings of the counts of Bentheim, set within an elaborate baroque cartouche with foliate and scroll ornaments. The shield is surmounted by a county crown. The date 1662 is divided by the crown at the top of the inner circle. The surrounding legend, reading clockwise, identifies the issuing count by name and title, rendered in Gothic-influenced lettering separated by stops.

Reverse description A double-headed imperial eagle with both heads crowned and the bodies shown with spread wings filling the central field, rendered in the characteristic style of mid-17th-century German small coinage. The two crowned heads face outward to either side, with the orb or shield on the breast. The eagle is contained within a plain inner circle, and the surrounding peripheral legend, separated by stops, encircles the design and proclaims the coin as a new issue of the County of Bentheim.
