Reverse description The reverse presents the quadrated cross design of the Spanish colonial real, with castles and lions alternating in the angles, all contained within a lobed octolobe (octagonal quatrefoil) border. The large heart-shaped cutout interrupts the central cross and surrounding shield motifs. The peripheral Latin legend reads 1726 HISPANIARUM REX — 'King of the Spains' — with the date 1726 prominently displayed at the top of the field and decorative rosette stops separating the legend elements. The milled edge of the host coin remains visible at the rim. This reverse is characteristic of the Madrid mint's production of Philip V reales during the early 18th century.
