Obverse description Obverse bearing a Persian devotional legend in Nasta'liq script, reading 'هست از جان غلام شاه صفی' ('I am from the soul a slave of Shah Safi'), arranged across the irregularly shaped hammered silver flan in multiple lines. The inscription, a characteristic pious formula of the Safavid coinage under Shah Safi I, fills the field with bold, flowing strokes. The flat, unornamented field exhibits the typical surface texture and flan irregularities associated with hand-struck Safavid issues. No figural imagery is present, in conformity with Islamic artistic conventions. The lettering is deeply struck, though the flan edges are uneven due to the hand-hammered production method.
