Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Arabic religious inscription comprising the Shi'ite formula, arranged horizontally across the flan in bold naskh or nasta'liq calligraphy. The legend fills the field in three or more lines, with portions of the text extending to the coin's irregular edge. The inscription affirms the Twelver Shi'a creed in accordance with standard Safavid coinage practice under Shah Abbas I. A horizontal dividing line separates portions of the legend. The flan shows a small perforation at the right, a common feature on circulated examples of this type.
